Class Structure

I try and keep classes short to accommodate the children’s limited attention span and leave them looking forward to next week. Here is my basic structure, that is likely to be adapted as we go along, I’ll keep you posted.

We will not force a child to join the french activity, so your child might very well decide to play on his/her own instead.

  1. Border control: We collect the passports, all the children will have their passport at the nursery (you can consult them when you’re in).
  2. Wake up: we wake our french puppet by shouting “1, 2, 3, Reveille toi!”
  3. Bonjour song: we play “Bonjour, Bonjour” Alain le lait song (click here to watch it)
  4. Greetings: we say hi to everyone and ask each others a few questions (see first page of passport)
  5. Revisions: game/activity or song based on last week’s notion
  6. New topic: games, activities, songs… based on a new topic (numbers, colours, animals…)
  7. Move and …: We play the french version of Simon says (Jacadi) but with music to be crazy in between each action.
  8. Goodbye: we say goodbye to everyone and get a new page for our passports with today’s activities
